Profile:

Timea Sido is an award-winning designer maker who has been handcrafting intricate ceramic objects since 2002.

Working from her London-based studio, her clients have included Kevin McCloud, Molton Brown, Kelly Hoppen, Aveda, Liberty, Fortnum & Mason and the Soutbank Centre. Timea’s work has featured in many magazines including Elle Decoration, Living etc, Homes and Gardens, as well as contemporary ceramics book Breaking the Mould published by Black Dog Publishing.

Timea graduated from Central St Martins College of Art and Design in 2001, but at this point was working in fashion and textile design. It wasn’t until she joined the prestigious Cockpit Arts’ studios in 2002 that she started to translate her designs into clay. This explains why her ceramics have a wonderfully fluid, draped quality to them, often defying the conventions of traditional ceramics.

The distinctive ‘tangled’ pattern that has become Timea’s signature style was born of a moment in her garden when she witnessed a leaf flying into a spider’s web, shattering the symmetry into a mess of tangled lines. In order to capture this moment in time, Timea developed an innovative technique in which lines of delicate white earthenware clay are layered to construct a three-dimensional filigree surface.

Timea is driven by a desire to create simple yet elegant contemporary decorative objects that enhance the home.
