Penny Withers’ landscape series are thrown and altered pots, made in white stoneware clay, which provides a light ground for surface colour. By observing the way that certain glazes melt together Penny has built up a collection of complimentary reactive glazes to suggest atmospheric landscapes, open to individual personal interpretation. The magic is dependent on the combinations and application of glaze, and the amount of heat they receive in the kiln.
