Description: Perspex and Silver
Artist: Sarah Packington
Profile:

Perspex is an ideal material for me; I love the clear, bright colours and infinite array of shapes I can create. I discovered it while on the Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Plastics degree at Brighton from 1988, and found I enjoyed using repeating forms with subtle variations, so leading me to start designing jewellery.

I always consider how my jewellery will work to enhance an outfit, using striking colour combinations and textile inspired textures. I am particularly inspired by Mid Century designers Lucienne Day, Jacqueline Groag and Jessie Tait.

I use a laser cutter or bandsaw to create my initial  shapes, then add texture, dye, and finally polish back to reveal coloured lines and blocks contrasted with clear or white areas.

Collections of my work have been bought by the Tate and British Museum gift shops.
