Title:  Smoked Fired Teapot and Metaql Strainer
 POA

Description: Smoked Fired Ceramic and Metal
Artist: Tegan Sessions
Profile: Enriched by my passion for organic form, I was inspired by the range of complexity that nature holds within the sinuous plants found on my visits at the Eden Project and Kew Gardens. The plants beauty, structure and growth were qualities I wanted to capture and translate into my 3D work. I intend to translate these elements into a decorative interior range including the highly challenging and complex form of the teapot. The teapot is seen as a highly functional tableware piece consisting of four separate sections. Bringing all these parts together will create a balanced organic form, which will be essential to my work. I combine metal and ceramics to achieve this intention. I use metal to reflect the growth and structure of natural form, combining this with ceramics that displays the forms balance and beauty. To parallel the delicate structure captured in my photographs I experiment with exposing hidden surface detail through processes including sandblasting and etching. These methods enhance the tactility and fragility of my decorative pieces.
